What rights do I have to complain in a hotel?
Holidays are just around the corner. And at Euriux Lawyers we do not want you to have any unpleasant surprises with a stay that is not up to standard, for example in your chosen hotel. Today we tell you what measures you can take. What are your rights as a consumer and what actions you can take against a hotel.
Cancellation of reservation
You can cancel your reservation in case of illness or justified cause without any cost. You can also cancel your reservation up to a certain date. In order to avoid surprises, it is advisable to check the reviews of the hotel establishment on the internet beforehand or to find out what is included in the price or not included in the hotel's offer. This contract is necessary in case of a complaint.
Unfulfilled expectations
The OCU warns that hotels must comply with what they advertise and if there are any changes they must inform you in advance. If problems with cleanliness, noise and odours affect your stay, then take action. You can exercise your rights, for example if when you arrive at the hotel the room does not correspond to your reservation. If you have requested a room with a sea view or if a room requested for the disabled does not comply with the regulations.
Complaint forms
Once you have started the process, you can fill in a complaint form. Ideally, you should provide comprehensive and detailed documentation. The hotel keeps the original document and the client keeps a copy that must be handed in at the local consumer office. If the trip has been contracted through an agency, you must do the paperwork at the agency.
Indemnification
Everything will depend on the case, the damage suffered and the circumstances. And for this, you can always count on the civil liability department of the firm Euriux, which will study your case and provide you with the best solution.
